    you are using that 775 brush dc motor as a power source to charge the caps, it is not a efficient way, a 3 phase magnet coil arrangement like a bike stator coil with magnets spinning around it or like a car's alternator are high efficient power sources, you have a 3d printer, coils etc could easily build it.

    There are other types of LEDs other than 5 mm LEDs. You can get some of those LED strips filament things there's all sorts of things out there which would be easier to work around in build into casing.

    Is the huge inductor and that specific transistor essential for this to work properly? i know this is not a tutorial but would be great to see a circuit that is more flexible on the parts needed. Will try my hand at it.

    you could use more efficient leds from luminus, their 3030 range has some really high efficiency, all be it on lower CRI. also i think you could probably get an IC with a higher conversion efficiency that accepts up to 40V (check allegro) if you get them that are efficient with not too many in series you can draw the caps down quite a bit. if you can find a sepic one it can do buck and boost, then you can draw them down to probably 3V or less, using most of your capacity. super caps that are big are recommended for their huge storage capacity that can be 3000uF! they run up to 3V and can be put in series with the usual consequence (you lose 50% capacity with 2 in series)

    If the generator is connected to the capster and it rotates, there will be heaviness in the rotation, and if the wires are disconnected from the capster, it will be light.

    Unfortunately that simple circuit relies on core saturation to oscillate. It’s basically a ringing choke oscillator, this means that you loose considerable energy in the core losses. It would be worth designing a proper boost circuit with a purpose designed boost regulator IC and current regulation in the LED’s. Interesting concept for the charging process. What capacitors are you using as you covered them and like that they just looked like LiPo’s.

  • @aeroearth
    @aeroearth 5 днів тому

    Electrolytic capacitors are notoriously leaky. I am decades out of date with electronics but I recall there were capacitors being developed using tantalum which had high storage capacity for a small package size and lower leak rate, though the capacitors in your pull chagre box look pretty tiny to me.

    I would get PCB panels made with LED's on them maybe nickel plated to operate as a reflector. And having a solar panel option would be cool. Slowly charging.
